Dear friends, Classical Writing - Intermediate Poetry is now available at www.lulu.com/content/320984It is the second book in our poetry series. It completes the student's work with standard English meter and feet and continues to add figures and stanza forms to the student’s “poetry tool box”. Your student will continue to compose his own poetry as he goes through the lessons. This time we focus in particular on Old English poetry and also on Romantic and Victorian poetry both in analysis and in imitation. The book is 186 pages, which amounts to 15 - 20 weeks of poetry if you make poetry your main vehicle for grammar, literature, and writing during those weeks. If you use it as a weekly supplement for the whole school year, we recommend doing two or three lessons per week. We recommend this book for junior high and up. Like Classical Writing - Diogenes, the lay out of the book is student friendly. Pick it up, start at the first lesson, and go lesson by lesson through each unit until you come to the end of the book. All the poems are given in the text, with optional additional poems in the text, and also “poetry routines” where you may choose your own poems if you wish. The book is "self-teaching" in that most of the student work is done by the student on his own, but be prepared to be at hand for reading, discussion and occasional guidance. For questions about the book, ask in this forum. Enjoy, Lene Jaqua, July 2006
