I have read through and LOVE CW-Poetry and can't wait to start using it. I also plan on getting CW-Homer. My rising 6th grader used CW-Aesop in her 4th grade year and we worked through the "outline" for CW-Homer for most of this year.
I am trying to decide how to schedule CW this year and wanted to know what has worked best for your children. Have you found if best to do CW-Poetry for 12 weeks straight or in chunks of 4 weeks or something like that?
Any and all advice is appreciated!
Blessings,

Hi Kelly, It probably isn't critical, but one reason I can think of for using blocks of 12 weeks is maintaining enough continuity that you and your students "internalize" the routines. The Day 1 Analysis of content builds incrementally over the first 12 weeks. The second year gives you a couple of weeks of review from those first 12 weeks, and then incorporates the analysis skills into writing essays. JMO, but I think that the smaller chunks will be more useful after you've covered the text one time. And, we all need something to do while waiting for the next level of CWP . Martha

I agree!
!2 weeks straight is probably the best thing for internalizing routines and getting a good "memory grip" on the terminology.
