First of all, I think there's an error in your "Which Books Should I Buy" chart. It says to get "Traditional Tales" with the Poetry Core Curriculum. Is that right?
Secondly, I've been using CW Aesop & CW Homer, and I love to plan and learn. However, I'm also wanting to use the workbooks. Therefore, to start the CW Poetry Unit, could I just get the Core Curriculum and the Workbook and skip the Instructor's Guide? Or -- do I really need to get the Guide and Workbook together?
thanks for your help, Julie

Thanks for calling the error to my attention. I will go look at it immediately after posting here. AS for your question.... I am going to call Kathy's attention to this post to answer it in greater detail, but my short answer is this. I suppose it is possible to use the Worbook without the Instructor's Guide, but it won't be obvious what many of the assignments are. The way the books are set up, you operate out of the Instructor's Guide, which tells you which pages in the CW Core Book to teach from and gives references to what to do in the Student Workbook. The Instructor's Guide also contains additional teaching tips and organizational material as well as flash cards and it is also mom's record book for learning and taking notes along with the student. This is not to deter you from what you want to do or try. I always taught BJU math with only the student texts and survived just fine ....If you want to try the Student Workbook without the Instructor's Guide, you can always come back and get the IG later if you find that you need it. HTH, and feel free to ask more questions. Lene

Thanks so much, Lene! That's a very helpful response. Flashcards -- that sounds fun! I'll be ordering soon.
