I am planning to have my 9 YO do a grammar copy book the way you suggest. What kind of paper do we use? Loose-leaf paper in a 3 ring binder so we can add pages if necessary or a sewn type of composition book. I am having trouble finding nice quality hand-writing paper with a margin, 5/8 in rule and dotted mid-line. I think this is called 3rd grade paper. (She struggles with handwriting and really needs the dotted mid-line.) The only thing I've seen in stores with the dotted midline is either newsprint, which would not hold up if it is something that we will need to refer back to frequently, or an odd size (not 8-1/2 by 11).

Oops. That was supposed to say 3/8 inch rule. 5/8 inch is what my 1st grader uses.

My kids use composition bound notebooks for everything, but the writing they do on the computer. I found composition books with "dashed" lines in the middle at two places one was Small Ventures, which I cannot find the web address of today. It says that www.smallventurebooks.com is temporarily down. Also I found them at Riggs Institute, www.riggsinst.org/catalog.htmboth the rule for 1st grade and for older elementary grades Composition Notebook, 3/8"rule $2.25 each or $25/dz. Composition Notebook, 1/2"rule $1.50 each or $18/dz. Riggs also has loose leaf paper with the same dashed rules. Lene
