Lene and Tracy,
I actually filled a blank weekly chart in with what I thought a CW-Homer week would look like.
Could you give me some feedback (i.e. Does it look workable? Have I covered everything?)? I don't know how to post it here in the chart form, so I will just type the info in.
Any comments (from anyone!) would be appreciated. Thanks for all you both do....can't wait for CW-Poetry!
The order may be different than is shown here (e.g. we will do the vocabulary after reading the model). Also, the pages are from the Homer site. I printed out the pages to read and those are the page numbers my printer assigned (page numbers sometimes vary from printer to printer).
Day 1
A&I -
1) Introduction of model/author
2) Read model together
3) Vocabulary/dictionary work
4) Spelling words
Writing -
1) Narrate model
2) Outline model with me (divide story into parts p.7, then more, p. 8-9)
3) Start 1st draft (optional - depends on time)
Day 2
A&I -
1) Weekly grammar lesson (Harvey's Elementary #?)
2) Application of grammar to model
3) Diagram sentences from model
4) Copybook from model (my dd needs this before her dictation)
Writing -
1) Discuss 3 ways to tell a story (beg. to end, flashback...) p. 7-8 and choose which one will do
2) Complete 1st draft using outline
3) Use utterance chart and thesaurus
Day 3
A&I -
1) Finish grammar lesson as needed
2) Lesson from Diagramming text (Whole Book of Diagrams) and try out on some model sentences
3) Application of previous grammar topic to model (as needed from review)
Writing -
1) Print 1st draft
2) Edit with me
3) Work on dialogue (CW-Aesop)
4) Work on noun/verb amplification (CW-Aesop)
Day 4
A&I -
1) Spelling Quiz
2) Dictation from model (use passage from Day 2)
Writing -
1) Print 2nd draft
2) Finish smoothing with me (p. 10-16 topics-choose one to work on this week)
3) Print final draft
