Hi, I need help finding the proper way to punctuate bible verses when you write them partially.
complete verse I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. Psalm 9:1
What if I just wanted to use the first part - "I will praise thee, O LORD"
What about the second part only- "I will shew forth all thy marvellous works"
Do I have to write Psalm 9:1 a/b?

I think your punctuation looked fine.
To do it properly you should write in the a and b notation for which part of the verse it was, however, a citation of Ps 9:1 is close enough for anyone to be able to look it up and verify it. It is more precise notation than many book citations ever get in terms of ease of finding it.
