I have two children, who are profoundly gifted with profubd language processing issues, I wish to use Harvey's Grammar soon. Both have studied grammar as part of their composition studies and intermitently as a subject of it's own or as needed in their (our? ) Latin studies? My eldest uses Warriner's Complete course and my youngest uses either the first course or the third course depending upon which one addresses the need. They've studied grammar for 5 years and Latin of and on for as long. Which book should I start my youngest (10 yrs old as of this writing), Revised or Elementary? Is there any reason not to start my eldest (15) on the Revised edition?

Tami,
Thank you for your question. I don't see any reason why they can't both do Harvey's Revised Grammar together so that you can teach them as a team and just challenge the older a little more in what you demand of him.
Harvey's Elementary is beginning grammar and should not be necessary for a student who has already done grammar for 5 years. Anything your student has not seen in Warriner's will be re-introduced in the Revised, which does contain a lot of repetition followed by deeper study.
HTH,
Lene

I appreciate the quick responce and I have both levels of Harvey's coming from an aquaintence with extras for about what I would have paid if ordered through Mott's. Once I look at the books, I'll see if having both in the same book is feasible from a purely practical point of veiw. We have run into a few issues around them both using the same book as one will take "for ever" to finish and the other remains incapable of putting things back when finished (purberty's assault upon civility and reason raises it's ugly head ). I'll let you all know how I get this to work if people are interested. Thank's again.

Yes,
Please keep us posted.
Harvey's Elementary and Harvey's Revised do somewhat follow the same order so you could have one student in the lower level and one in the higher, teach the core theory together, and still have a sense that they are working on similar and related material.
When I have taught the Elementary or the Revised, I have, in both cases had a book for each student so they didn't have to trade books.
