Friends,
Happy Thanksgiving!!
We at Classical Writing are excited to present our latest product line Harvey Elementary Grammar Workbooks and Answer Keys.
The workbook is for Harvey’s Elementary Grammar Part I. It is currently available with a fulll answer key and explanations to the answers for all the lessons.
(The second workbook, for Part II, will be available shortly, also with a full answer key).
The Harvey Workbook and Answer Key will enable you and your students to learn grammar the thorough way with Harvey’s. The simple and helpful lay out of both the workbook and the answer key make it easy to assign, complete, and confidently grade the daily work.
These books are recommended for any student of Classical Writing – Homer, but can also be used by students who may be using other writing programs but would like to use Harvey’s grammars.
Our hope is that these books will finally make Harvey’s accessible to those who would have liked to have done Harvey’s but who were intimidated by the 19th century lay out of the book.
Sincerely,
Kathy Weitz, Carolyn Vance, and Lene Jaqua

To preview, go to www.classicalwriting.com . Click on the title of the book you want to preview, which will bring you to a page with detailed description for that book. Under the picture of the book there is a link to "preview", click on that and you will get into a pdf preview of the book so you can see what it is like. Here is the direct link to the Harvey Student Workbook preview: www.lulu.com/browse/preview.php?fCID=398410How are these books different from what you have? 1. One is a *workbook* that is, you can do all the work in the book. This is easier for students because they can see precisely where to work, and it's faster for them too. The lay out is much friendlier than Harvey's 19th century lay out when it was harder to typeset for tables and effect other types of organizational schemes in a book. 2. The answer key is detailed. It is basically a mini-copy of the workbook with the answers laid out in a very userfriendly fashion. Also it contains detailed explanation for the parsing the student is asked to do. AND it contains diagrams, detailned diagrams of near all the sentences that are parsed. That is a whole lot more diagrams than any previous Harvey answer key I have seen. Does that answer your question? Thanks for writing, Lene

Hello! I would like a very thorough English grammar book. I am not a native English speaker, so the samples I saw on your website of the Harvey Grammar Workbook pleased me. I liked the easy-to-understand explanations. Sometimes I find it difficult to teach my children English grammar. I know what the answer is, but cannot explain it eloquently.
Where would I get the Harvey Grammar book? Are there different versions? I want to make sure I get the correct one. When will Volume II be available?
Do I have to print out the book or is there a way to order a print copy? Thanks, Nicole

Hello, Nicole! I have found the Harvey's explanations to be clear and thorough, but Lene has more experience with them from the standpoint of English being a second language. You can get Harvey's Elementary Grammar from Mott Media and several other Internet sources, including E-bay. Our workbooks are based on the 1880 version, but the newer versions can be used with the workbooks as well. There are two Harvey's Grammar books, the Revised and the Elementary. Our workbooks use the Elementary grammar. We have written the second workbook and answer key, and are in the process of proofing it. I expect it to be available by early spring. The books are only available in printed form. Lulu is an 'on demand' printer - when you place an order, they print the books and ship them directly to you. Carolyn

Harvey's (with workbooks and answer key) ought to fit the bill. His explanations are succinct, he has little "Remember" notes underneath a rule to explain the exceptions and why they are exceptions, and he is just a no-frills, just the facts, sort of person.
Workbook II is almost ready. We are proofing the Answer Key, which is the last thing that needs doing, so we can release the Answer Key and Harvey Workbook II at the same time.
Harvey's Grammar should take you through all necessary grammar for K - 12, and more, I think, than some grammars teach. Our exercises in the workbooks will match Harvey's books completely, whether you choose the Mott version or buy an 1880 version on E-Bay.
