Classical Writing - Diogenes: Chreia is also under production at this point.
We are planning a book with 80 lessons in Analysis and Imitation and 20 essay projects, to span 20 weeks of a school year. The last 10 - 15 weeks can be filled either with additional projects we suggest in the book, or with Classical Writing - Intermediate Poetry.
In this book we plan to cover the following:
Finish the theory and application of Harvey's grammars:
Verbs: Mood, tense, and voice and their applications in rhetoric.
Adverbs: classes, comparisons, and use
Prepositions, conjunctions, interjections.....
And also SYNTAX: coordinate elements, subordinate elements, types of sentences (complex, simple, coordinate), phrases and clauses .
rhetoric: we review the 5 canons, 3 types of speeches, and complete the three appeals (ethos was in MAXIM, bow we cover pathos and logos). We also re-introduce the headers from MAXIM formally and teach the rhetorical supports for each paragraph, explain plagiarism, when and how to quote citation, and work with figures of parallelism and comparison.
We also continue work with the modern essay, work with arrangement of paragraphs within the essay, and finally learn how to condense a narrative down to a chreia and then further down to a stylistically appealing maxim.
Please post any questions you have here. Lene

Any ideas as to when Chreia might be out?

Chreia is outlined, and I am in the process of drafting it.
Right now, my time is taken up proofing Intermediate Poetry. I should be done with that by June, when I will concentrate my efforts on Chreia. With a reasonable working schedule (which is delayed because of summer visitors, travels, and one of mine is having surgery too) I'd say that I should have the draft of Chreia done by September. Possibly earlier. Then 1 - 2 months to proof it, and mid-fall is a reasonable guess.
I wish I could have it ready for the begining of the school year. I will try, but I doubt it's realistic.

Lene,
I am a high school teacher at a classical Christian school who has just discovered the excellent work you are doing and would like to offer my help as a proofreader if that would help expedite your efforts. This morning I started reading Diogenes and have found picky little errors that are nothing in comparison with the great wealth of information you are offering us. Please let me know if and how I can help you. I just wish there were more levels already in print that I could use with my literature and rhetoric students in grades 10-12.
