Hi all.
I sat down a few months ago and wrote out everything that I wanted in a LA program, and then I found Classical Writing. Perfect! This is everything I'd hoped for. I thought I was going to have to create the curriculum myself. I'm so excited!
...So now I'm about to purchase CW-Aesop for my 9yo ds, and am wondering what else I will need to complete his language arts curriculum for the year.
With spelling, penmanship, good books, and CW, will I have enough? What about dictionary use? Letter-writing? Usage and mechanics? We have used Easy Grammar and Rod and Staff, and I would love to get away from these two texts. Harvey's interests me, but I don't know what it covers, and I see that CW doesn't use it for the first half of Aesop.
I'm just nervous....don't want to miss anything...
Thanks,

Dictionary skills are covered in Aesop, as are usage and mechanics. Homer is soon enough to add a formal grammar program. In Aesop, the student is introduced to the parts of speech and has the opportunity to practice basic sentence diagramming. Letter writing is something not specifically covered in the program. With the things you mention, you should be all set. Carolyn
