Hi, Just getting started here. I want to purchase the older beginners for my 8thgrader. My 1st question is, are the Core books for the Older beginner different, or the same as what has been offered? Also, could I purchase the Aesop core first, ( for cost purposes) and then the Homer in a month or so? Lastly, should I be using Harvey's in conjunction with this Older Beginners program? She has had grammar with Calvert, and is in her third year of Latin.. ( the first 2 years we not solid, using Latina Christiana I and II).
Thank you and I am looking forward to this experience.

You do use both Aesop and Homer for Older Beginners, but Aesop is only used for about 2 weeks, and you may be able to get by without it, or better yet, borrow it from someone close by. I would go ahead and buy Homer so you, the teacher, can begin to read through it.
We do recommend using Harvey's Grammar with Homer, and you can buy workbooks and answer keys from us to make it easier. It may be possible for your daughter, with her language experience, to do minimal work in Harveys, so you might not need the workbook. But I would definitely advise you to have a copy of Harvey's for reference. It is a fairly inexpensive book at Amazon, about $11.
I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to ask any further questions.

Kathy, Thank you this did help. I am re-reading your response, and it is helping even more, as I am peicing together this whole "set". I was able to locate a Harvey's set, ( don't think answer key is included) for $15. I think I will try doing Older beg without Aesop. I have found everything except Aesop core, used. Is there a Homer A and B core? Thank you again!

There is only one Homer core, used for both Homer A and Homer B workbooks. Carolyn

It has been a while since my last post. I have had a lot go on in my life, and we are just now getting completely "back in the saddle". Ok, so I now have everything except Homer core. I have been looking for a used copy. I will tell you, I feel a little overwhelmed and DO NOT want to give up. Can you point me to where I can go to get step by step help on using this curriculum. I really want us to get started. Thank you so much! Jocelyn

Hi Jocelyn,
Truly, the best step-by-step help for Homer are the Instructor's Guides and Student Workbooks. I think you will find them very simple to follow and use.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
