Hello, I have a 10 yr old daughter and 12 yr old son. Daughter has been through Rod & Staff 4, son through R&S 5. Both have (together) been through Classical Composition (Jim Selby) Fable and the first several lessons of Narration. (We spent 2 years on this.) Both are very strong grammatically--love the word play. I'm thinking of switching to CW, mostly because it looks like you have a lot more information available for the teacher (and I need it!). We also have read and memorized all sorts of poetry extensively since before they were ever in school, but their only exposure to analysis is through Rod and Staff.
I am thinking of starting daughter in Homer A. Because of the way you organize differently from Classical Comp, I am thinking of starting son in Classical Writing for Older Beginners, rather than Maxim. I am also thinking of Poetry for Older Beginners for my son (as you suggest doing both in a year). Could I also do the Older Beginners Poetry with my daughter, or should I start with Poetry for Beginners A?
What would you recommend?
Also, even without changing to Harvey grammar, the price tag is approaching $300. Is there anything I could combine? Or is there a recommended order, so I could split up the cost?
Thank you! Anne

Homer A for your daughter, Aesop and Homer for Older Beginners for your son sounds good. And I think you could do the Poetry for Older Beginners with both of them, although it may stretch your daughter a bit.
Because you'd be ordering more than 5 books, you qualify for our co-op discount of 20%. Just write us at classicalwriting@att.net, and we'll give you the details!
