I previously posted a question about my 6th & 8th grader, and needed to ask now about grammar. My 8th grade son completed R&S 7 English last year, and I had not planned on him doing R&S 8 English since a good majority of the text dealt with writing. I will be switching to the Older Beginners series. What are your thoughts? Do I need to continue grammar with Harvey's, and if so, which books and workbooks would apply at 8th grade level? I was hoping the grammar in CW would be enough, but I also don't want to quit if there is more he should be learning.
Thank you for responding!

Do you have a good grammar handbook? If your son has a good grammar foundation, I would think you could use it to review the concepts taught in Older Beginners, and use it as a reference for things you may not have gotten to. There's lots of practice within the Older Beginners text.
I have Harvey's Elementary and Harvey's Revised on hand for references. I've heard excellent things about the Rod and Staff Grammar Handbook, so that would probably do as well.

Hi Carolyn,
Yes, I do have the R&S English Handbook. I had purchased it earlier this summer with the intention of using it as a reference or supplement to CW. I'm so glad to hear that will work and I don't need to add more to the program.
Thank you for replying.
