I'm new here and have never posted before. We are currently using CW Aesop and loving it. Its the first writing program that actually makes sense! My 10 ds likes it because he doesn't have to come up with something to write about.
We will be moving to Homer in the next couple of months. I have a couple of questions....
1. Its been a long while since I've had formal grammar and the grammar I've had was not the best! ( very small town background!) Will I be able to teach this course?
2. One child is in 6th grade and if we continue to go on up with the program, will this program stand up to college entrance exams. Sorry...being an insecure mom!
3. Will the Harvey's summer course be available this summer.
Sorry for all of the questions!
Melissa

Hi Melissa, It's good to hear CW Aesop is working for you. The grammar in CW Homer is fairly rigorous, but just about all of us here have had to learn along with our kiddos. It can be done! :-) I don't know if the Harvey's course will be offered again this summer. The materials from last year are available online at classicalco-op.com, and you're welcome to work through it at your leisure and bring any and all questions here to the "Harvey's Help Hub". The aim of Classical Writing is to train really good writers using time-tested, classical methods. Such writers should be able to perform very well on standardized tests! Classical Writing does not attempt to "teach to the test", but all necessary writing skills should be covered: grammar, writing clear and coherent sentences, thinking carefully, and organizing an essay. Good questions. Nice to hear from you! Tracy

HI Melissa,
I am the one who sort of orchestrated the Harvey's course last summer with Carolyn as my very helpful side-kick.
Last summer, after the Harvey's course was over, I toyed with the idea of offering a course in basic CW writing this coming summer 2005.
It would be a joy to run a summer class this coming summer, either writing or grammar. Last summer's class got great feedback and it is possible to offer it again, however, right now my husband is out of a job and I do not know whether we shall be facing a national move this year, which makes me hesitant to commit to anything this summer until I know our family's situation more securely..
Thanks for asking,
Lene

Don't apologize. I thought nothing of it... I only really mentioned it because there is no other way for me to illustrate why I am so unsure of what I really would like to do. Lene
