I have felt drawn several times to this program, but have some questions.
I have two sons I'm thinking of using this with--a 5th grader and a 3rd grader. Neither one likes to write. We combine Classical and Charlotte Mason methods and ideas. We've tried just writing narrations, Writing Strands, Wordsmith Apprentice, Writing Step by Step, and never been happy.
We've never done much grammar, just Primary Language Lessons and Intermediate Language Lessons. I am very intimidated at the idea of using something like Harvey's. I had been thinking of using something like The Grammar Key. We've been using The Natural Speller for many years, and happily. Both boys spell well. We did not use Spell to Read and Write, and don't intend to with the younger children.
Where would I start, both in Aesop? Would that put my older son behind? Are 8 books still plannned? What would he need to be well-prepared for college?
Homer looks more intimidating. As I mentioned, I'm VERY intimidated at the thought of spending so much time on writing, PLUS more for spelling, grammar, diagramming. I don't want to burn this child out or make him want to run for the hills! But I do want him to be able to write well.
How could I combine this with what I'm already doing or planning to make this more do-able or less frightening? LOL
Where do I start my sons? What will my days look like? Will we still have time for other notebooking projects for our history notebooks? Can I still use The Natural Speller and The Grammar Key?
Is that enough questions? LOL
